Kota Kinabalu-Selingan Island-Sepilok-Kinabatangan-Gomantong Cave-Tabin Wildlife

Day 1 – Welcome to Kota Kinabalu

Upon arrival, transfer for city tour. First visit the Sabah City Mosque, also known as the floating mosque. Next visit the Puh Toh Shi Buddist Temple – Built in year 1980,the building stands out with its traditional Chinese roofing and structure. After that, visit the tallest architectural in Kota Kinabalu, The Yayasan Tower standing 122 meters high, also officially known as Menara Tun Mustapha (Sabah Foundation Building). Built in 1977, this 30-storey circular glass sculpture boasts a unique edifice utilizes a single column structure that is one of the very few in the world. Lunch at local restaurant. Our representative will send you to hotel for check in and transfer for dinner.

Day 2 – Kota Kinabalu – Sandakan

Pick up from airport and transfer to CQ Jetty for Selingan Turtle Island. This journey by motorised  boat will take about 1 hour. After lunch, grab your mask, fins and snorkel and head to the beach  where you can find lots of juvenile marine life. Or, you can choose to relax or sun bathing by the  beach. Before dinner, treat yourself to a slide show featuring information of the turtle park and turtles. After dinner, standby at the Cafeteria. Wait for Park Ranger’s signal before proceed in a small group to the egg-laying site to witness the mother turtle laying eggs, transferring of eggs to the hatchery and releasing of hatchlings to the sea. Stay overnight at Selingan Island Chalet.

Day 3 – Turtle Island/Sepilok Orang Utan/Kinabatangan River

0600hrs, wake up early in the morning and have your breakfast at 0630hrs. By 0700hrs, depart Selingan Island and return to mainland. Proceed to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre, watching one of the nature’s most endangered animal species, the ‘Orang Utan’ or ‘Man of the Jungle’, in local language swing from branches to branches towards to the feeding station in the forest. Watch the scheduled video show programmes (25 mins) and visit to thenbExhibition Hall. After Sepilok, proceed to Sun Bear Conservation Center to see the world’s smallest bear in its natural environment. Lunch en route at SJR. After lunch, we drive overland to Bilit, Kinabatangan River. Arrive at Bilit around 1430hrs, check into your accommodation. By 1530hrs, have an afternoon tea with some local bites. After a short briefing by the nature guide, take an afternoon cruise (4.00pm) along the Kinabatangan River (Sabah’s longest river at 560km) where you can observe wildlife on the boat itself. Dinner & overnight stay at Bilit Adventure Lodge.

Optional: Night walk can be arranged, pay locally @ RM10.00 nett p/pax/hrs.

Day 4 – Kinabatangan River/Morning Cruise/Gomantong Cave/Tabin Wildlife Resort

Wake up early in the morning to start the day with an early river cruise at about 6.00am. After the 1 hours boat cruise, proceed back to Bilit Lodge for breakfast. By 0830 hrs, depart Bilit for Gomantong Cave to explore the largest limestone & bird nests cave in Sabah where millions of swiftlets make the cave their home. After cave, transfer to Lahad Datu (about 3hours). You will be picked up in the east coast town of Lahad Datu and transferred by road to Tabin Wildlife Reserve (1:30 hrs). Check into an attractive timber lodge at Tabin Wildlife Resort, which comes complete with private balcony, air conditioner, ceiling fan and hot water shower, a welcome luxury in the forest. Nestled within the rainforest beside the Lipad river, this lovely setting is home to a surprising variety of birds, insects and small mammals, even right beside the buildings of the resort.

Discover the rich variety of jungle herbs, some endemic, used for generations by local folks for the treatment of various ailments. In the afternoon, visit the active Lipad mud volcano which provides a mineral salt lick for wildlife. After trekking through the rainforest for 20 minutes, arrive at the elevated bare area of the mud volcano which is frequented by wildlife and birds. Try to identify the multitude of animal footprints here. The adventurous can try the effects of the volcanic mud, said to be responsible for a fine complexion. Trek back to the resort along elephant trail. After dinner, enjoy a night safari to look out for nocturnal wildlife and birds. Remember to look up at the clear, dark sky of Tabin, identify the constellations above you and make a wish or two.

Day 5 – Tabin – Kota Kinabalu

Early morning bird walk to discover some of Tabin’s rich collection of more than 300 species of birds. After breakfast, a drive to the core area for animal’s spotting and for photo session before trekking through the lush green rainforest known for its rich diversity of plants and animal species to visit Lipad Waterfall. Take a dip in the natural pool and enjoy a natural and refreshing shower under the waterfall. Alternatively explore the surrounding vegetation or just relax. After lunch, depart to Lahad Datu airport for flight back to Kota Kinbalu.Transfer will pick you up from airport and transfer to hotel for check in. Rest of the day at your own leisure.

Day 6 – Kota Kinabalu – Home Sweet Home

Free and easy until transfer to airport for flights back home.
